JFK RunWay Run

When: April 18, 2010
Where: JFK International Airport, NY
Contact: OR “5K Runway Run” OR SIGN UP AT….

I think I found a fun one! I am always traveling out of JFK airport in NY, and normally when I think of it I cringe because I am leaving home. Now I won’t have to frown because I am going to RUN the RUNWAY on Sunday APRIL 18th! How much fun!!! Just picture it; you can run along the runway at JFK airport as planes takeoff and land. If the sound of jet engine on your behind doesn’t make you go faster – I don’t know what will. Anyway, I think this will be a FUN one for me – and could be for you too! Come down and participate with me

Here is a little background on the race…“The first race was run in April 1972, it is a very unique race as the main runway is actually closed to aircraft landing and taking off. Aircrafts are routed to land and take off from a secondary runway during the race. During its history the race has never been canceled. The Rotary Club works closely with Airport authorities to ensure the security programs in place are strictly adhered to. Runners actually run on the longest Runway at JFK which is almost 14,000 feet, although only a short portion of the main runway is used for the race.”

Make sure to check out the race website
I hope I get to see some of you!

Revolution3 Triathlon Series

When: May 8 & 9 June 5 & 6 September 11 & 12
Where: May in Knoxville, TN June in Middlebury, CT and September in Sandusky, OH

Can' Wait To Race
Everyone has been asking me about my race schedule this season. If you know me, you most likely figured out that I like to try new things hence, the reason I am trying out triathlons. I have decided to take on the Rev3 Challenge and am doing all THREE Races! The first is the Olympic Distance (.9 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) May 9th in Knoxville, TN, the second is a Half Distance (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) June 6th in Middlebury, CT and the last race is a FULL IRON Distance (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) September 12th in Sandusky, Ohio – home of Cedar Point (largest roller coasters ever! – or so I am told, never really got into riding coasters but now I can). Please come down and participate if you can! You might be thinking I can’t do these type of things – but you don’t know if you don’t try. Check out the Rev3 website for more details – also you should know you can do a relay! This is a way that you can get others involved and if you hate to swim, well you don’t have to pick that leg of the race =) Either way – RACE…CHEER…or VOLUNTEER
The Rev3 Challenge is my big goal this season and what I will be training for. I am still looking for other races to do – some I want to be for fun, some I want a cool venue / place I have never been or just something different. If you have any suggestions please let me know. I will keep you all posted on what else I find that I want to participate in.

Awesome Cause! Lets Help Brad

When: Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 12am to 3am
Where: Lake Placid, NY

Hey Everyone! So a friend of mine is doing the Lake Placid Ironman in less than a week! He is trying to reach a goal of $5,000 for the LUNGevity Foundation. This is a cause very near to his heart… I know times are tough, but please try to spread the word! There is only a few days left for him to meet his goal =)

Please see below message from Brad…
“Last Year I completed my first ironman and was able to raise money for the AFSP along with it. With the pain of seeing my mom suffer from lung cancer over the past two years I have decided to help the LUNGevity Foundation who has been a HUGE source of information and support for my mom. I will be racing in Ironman Lake Placid in July of 2009, which is a 140.6 mile triathlon. Please help any way you can so no more mothers, fathers, and friends will ever have to suffer from lung cancer. Thank You so much- Brad”
